This is by far my favorite photo of Ryan. No matter how much shit anyone or thing gives this fool, he still keeps on pushing it. Some may call it stupid, but I think it's a reflection of his spirit. And it's beast. That's more than a lot of people can say, especially people here in the islands.
This is a prime example of how skate videos should be made. This captures the essence of skateboarding, which to me is cruising with your friends and having fun. No gimmicks, no bullshit. It's a rare treat now days for me to watch a video that actually gets me hyped on skating and make me want to go skate and film shit.
Here's a new part I found of Paul Battlay. He visit's Maui on occasional summers and is a pretty cool dude to hang out. Hopefully we'll see him this summer.
I made this edit a couple months ago. It's footage of a bunch of dudes from Texas I met while living in California back in 2007. They are really, really, really good at skateboarding.
Last year I had exactly 50 posts since changing over to blogger. That seems like a little within the span of 365 days, but the truth is nothing really goes on in Maui. Quality content is hard to come by. Making something out of scraps is pretty difficult and the end product is usually just bullshit, as most blog posts are. Regardless if you actually enjoy it or not, it still accomplishes its mission to kill time. Everything we do kills time until we inevitably end up six feet under. No matter your path in this life, from the moment we enter this world, we grow up, go to school, go to work, experiment, blah blah blah, then die. A pessimistic view, yes. A realistic view, yes. Bullshit, yes. Does it matter, not really. I'll start this new year with more blah.

The year is starting off good for me, we'll see what it has in store for us.

In regards to the title name, Sam Peralta sent me a loving e-mail telling me I should update this site more so he can stare at his computer for longer periods of time and so he can reminisce about Maui while he's cruising in Australia. So this post is for you Sam. I would promise more posts to come, but I might get trampled on Friday.
If you didn't know, my friend Tom made it in Slap's One in a Million contest this year. To sum the contest up for those of you who don't know, you send a sponsor me, they pick the top 10, then you pick the top 5, the top 5 then gets flown out to SF where they will skate for a week and ultimately be judged by Slap and their entourage and decide who really is One in a Million. There is no other person who deserves it more than Tom (my personal bias) so vote for his ass!
Also, Warfare is finally being completed as you read this (assuming this is before 9/19/09) and he's got a bunch more amazing footage all tied together into what I can only imagine to be a wonderfully directed work of art.
after a short stint in the moke life, ryan has left the rock and is cruising in and around HB again. this guy is probably with him at this very moment and this guy will be releasing his masterpiece featuring all three of the previously mentioned people in the near future.

i'm officially on summer vacation so there might be another hiatus in future updates. with that being said, this may or may not be the last update for a long time. it's not like i've been updating this place that frequently anyways...
the weather hasn't been too cooperative as of late but, i managed to get some disposable clips of nick brown this past weekend. it was my first time touching my camera in at least 4 weeks.
